Air Link at Medical Center of the Rockies took flight this week answering three transport requests for critically ill or injured patients. Two calls were from rural areas in Colorado, and one was from Wyoming.
"It's been an exciting first week in operation, said Dr. Timothy Hutchison, Air Link at Medical Center of the Rockies' medical director. "We are pleased with the quality flight team that we were able to recruit and are confident that the patients served by our air ambulance program are getting the very best care available."
Medical Center of the Rockies launched Air Link on Monday with a dedication ceremony for its 12-member crew and brand-new B3 helicopter.
The red and white helicopter, operated by EagleMed, a leader in the air ambulance service, is capable of reaching altitudes of up to 23,000 feet.
"This unique feature allows our team to fly in difficult high-altitude areas such as the Rocky Mountains," said Hutchison.
Air Link at Medical Center of the Rockies services the three-state region of Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska, serving residents in a 200-mile radius from Loveland, Colo., the program's home base.
The program is offered in partnership with Scottsbluff, Nebraska's air ambulance program, Air Link at Regional West, which flies a Bell 407 helicopter.
"We are looking forward to growing our medical transport service throughout the region and are proud to offer a program that is rooted in safety, quality, positive outcomes and evidence-base protocols and patient care," said Hutchison.
