Colorado Health Medical Group provides free medical care clinic at High Park Fire evacuation center
Doctors and nurses from Colorado Health Medical Group, part of University of Colorado Health, are teaming up with other local providers to offer free medical care for High Park Fire evacuees and responders.
The free mobile clinic is located outside the main entrance of the evacuation center at the 4-H building at the Ranch. Hours of operation are daily from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Mobile clinic patients can receive basic medical care for minor conditions. Prescription assistance is available with support from the Health District of Northern Larimer County and the American Red Cross. Identification and insurance information (if applicable) is required in order to obtain or renew prescriptions. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Appointments are not required and cannot be made in advance.
Dr. Lee Goacher, medical director of urgent care and mobile clinic coordinator, said that if needs for the free clinic services increase there is capacity to expand hours of operation. Nineteen patients were treated at the clinic since its opening day on June 17.
"This is at the heart of why doctors do what they do," Goacher said. "The bottom line is regardless of the organization they work for, nurses and other providers are coming together to do community service for those affected by the High Park Fire."
The mobile unit was donated for use at the evacuation center by the Health District of Northern Larimer County. One physician and up to two nurses or emergency medical services personnel will staff the clinic each day. Medical team members are all donating their services to the mobile clinic.
University of Colorado Health is a new organization that includes Poudre Valley Hospital, Medical Center of the Rockies, Colorado Health Medical Group (formerly Poudre Valley Medical Group), and University of Colorado Hospital.
