Medical Center of the Rockies and Poudre Valley Hospital received national awards June 30 for consistently providing outstanding customer service to patients.
Avatar International, the country's leading private company that tracks patient satisfaction in hospitals, presented MCR with the top honor, the Overall Best Performer Award.
PVH was awarded for exceeding patient expectations, the ninth year in a row that the hospital has received the award.
PVH also received Avatar's new Blue Sky Award for implementing an innovative project that helped to improve patient satisfaction scores. The PVH project revised room service, menu selection and meal ordering times for inpatients. PVH was the first hospital to receive the new award.
David Medvedeff, Avatar CEO, said the awards reflect the "inherent sense of compassion" shown by the hospitals' employees. "They have succeeded in putting the needs of the patient first," he said.
This was the fourth consecutive year that MCR received the Overall Best Performer Award. It is based on combined scores in patient satisfaction for inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, and ambulatory services. The rating puts MCR in the top 5 percent of Avatar's database that includes customer satisfaction responses for hundreds of U.S. hospitals.
Rulon Stacey, president and CEO of Poudre Valley Health System, which operates the two hospitals, said the awards demonstrate "remarkable accomplishments in patient care provided by our physicians, employees and staff."
The awards were presented at Avatar's annual national symposium in Orlando, Fla.
