David L. Wood, a Fort Collins native, is an alumnus of the University of Colorado and the CU Law School. He has practiced law in Fort Collins since 1962, serving as district attorney for the 8th Judicial District, special assistant attorney general for Colorado, and United States magistrate judge. He is a past president of the Colorado Bar Association.
David plays an active role in community affairs, including service as president of the Fort Collins Area Chamber of Commerce and the board of directors of First National Bank.
David's service to Poudre Valley Hospital began in 1976, as a board member for the Poudre Valley Hospital District. He served on that board for 12 years, including six years as chairman. In 1990, the board appointed him as counsel to the district board. David assisted in the creation of the private, nonprofit Poudre Valley Health System in 1994, and served as general counsel to PVHS until 2008 when he retired from that position. He returned as general counsel in March 2010, where he continues to serve.
