While we're talking about dipping birds...
Remember those dipping birds that were so popular a few years ago? You may still have one. If not, think about getting one for your child; there's a good science lesson to be learned.
| The dipping birds, also known as drinking birds, are toy heat engines that mimic the motions of a bird drinking from a fountain or other water source. Some people incorrectly think of them as perpetual motion machines.
The dipping bird was invented by a scientist in 1945. The birds have been used in numerous movies and TV shows, including The Simpsons and Family Guy.
