Would you like to have weight-loss surgery in Colorado?
To qualify for bariatric surgery, patients must meet the following criteria set forth by the National Institutes of Health:

Body mass index* of 40 or greater OR body mass index of 35 or greater with an obesity-related health condition such as type II diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease or sleep apnea

History of failed sustained weight loss on medically supervised weight-loss program

No substance abuse, psychoses or uncontrolled depression
Of the insurers that cover weight-loss surgery in Colorado, including Medicare and Medicaid, most typically require patients to undergo medically supervised weight-loss attempts before approving bariatric surgery.
