As a collaboration between Poudre Valley Hospital (PVH) and Northern Colorado Surgical Associates, the Bariatric Center of the Rockies is a team specializing in gastric bypass surgery where each member is vital in preparing patients for surgery and their lives afterward.
Gastric Bypass Doctors
Our board-certified gastric bypass surgery doctors are Robert R. Quaid, M.D., F.A.C.S., James M. Dickinson, M.D., F.A.C.S., Stefan M. Pettine, M.D., F.A.C.S. and Michael D. Roller, M.D., F.A.C.S., all with Northern Colorado Surgical Associates.
Bariatric Program Manager
Lynelle Diede, MSN, RN, is our bariatric program manager. Lynelle has been involved in the care of bariatric patients since 1998. She ensures the program is compliant with all Center of Excellence criteria with a special focus on the maintaining the program's high level of quality and customer service. Additionally, Lynelle oversees the Bariatric Patient Navigator Program, and can assist patients and physicians with any questions they may have.
Certified Bariatric Nurse
Becki Mudgett, R.N., prepares patients for the physical and emotional changes that come with gastric bypass surgery and works closely with all the gastric bypass doctors.
Bariatric Patient Navigator
Our bariatric patient navigator guides patients step by step through the entire process-from initial inquiry and pre-surgery weight loss when needed/required to connecting patients to appropriate resources after weight-loss surgery.
PVH Dietary Services
Our dietitians, specially trained in bariatrics, meet with patients prior to surgery to explain their diet and lifestyle changes. If necessary, additional appointments can be scheduled as well. They will provide each patient individualized education and tools to guide them after surgery.
PVH Surgical Services
PVH has specialized equipment to care for bariatric patients and ensure patient safety throughout their stay. This includes the operating room as well as the inpatient areas throughout the hospital. Treating bariatric patients and their families with dignity and respect is a top priority for all PVH staff. This compassionate team is here to deliver a positive experience for everyone involved.
Psychologists
As part of our commitment to a comprehensive bariatrics center, we work with several psychologists. Betty Vanek, Ph.D. and Patrick Demarco, Ph.D. work with our adult patients to ensure they are psychologically prepared for surgery and emotionally ready to handle the permanent lifestyle changes after surgery. Brian Mesinger, Ph.D. works exclusively with our adolescent patients. All of our clinicians work with the gastric bypass surgery doctors to ensure comprehensive patient care.
