You will be asked to fill out a MRI Safety Screening form prior to the procedure to make sure you are eligible to complete the MRI. It is extremely important to tell your doctor if you have any implanted medical devices such as: Pacemaker, brain aneurysm clips or neurostimulators, or any other metal around your organs. Also let your doctor know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
You should wear comfortable non-metallic clothing such as elastic waist pants, shorts, T-shirts, and sports bra. Hearing aids and other electronic or metal devices will need to be removed before entering the MRI scan room. Lockers will be provided for any metal accessories and other personal items. Please bring a list of medications you are taking with you to your appointment.
Do not eat or drink four hours before the following procedures:
Abdomen Bile ducts Kidneys Liver Pelvis Prostate Uterus/Ovaries
For all other types of MRI scanning you may eat normally before the procedure and continue to take your regular medications.
