Diagnosing a sleep disorder involves a referral from your primary care or internal medicine doctor to one of our doctors certified in sleep medicine. Your sleep doctor will use a variety of information to diagnose your sleep disorder, and this may include what is called a "sleep study." Sleep studies are performed at the Sleep Disorders Center.
Sleep Studies
Sleep studies, or "polysomnograms" are non-invasive tests to evaluate your biophysiological state during sleep.
A sleep study provides important information for evaluating a sleep problem, and includes identifying sleep stages and duration, body position, blood-oxygen levels, heart rate, eye movements, snoring and other sleep behavior.
Sleep studies are painless, and other than some sleep monitoring tools affixed to the body, relatively simple.
Most of our sleep studies are scheduled at night, when it is common for many people to sleep. We do accommodate day studies for people who are night shift workers or otherwise typically sleep during the day.
Our new facility at Westbridge was specially designed for the latest in sleep technology and your privacy and comfort. Our Sleep Disorders Center Team will assist you and conduct your sleep study according to your doctor's instructions. For more information: 970.495.8670.
